My name is Sherrey Meyer, and I have always loved to read. So much so that I tempted the wrath of my mother growing up by hiding under the blankets on my bed with a flashlight to sneak a book to read. Mama thought that reading was a waste of time. Time spent must show a relative production of something during that time. Reading had no tangible or visible evidence of your precious time. However, my father, a printer and publisher, felt differently and he encouraged my love of the printed word.
Today I write to add another element to my love of words, and I am drafting a memoir about my troubled relationship with my mother. Now a mother myself as well as grandma and great-grandma I have attempted in different ways to pass along my love of reading. Who knows how successful I have been; time and history will tell.
When I’m not reading or writing, I’m spending quality time with my husband, Bob, a retired industrial designer. I too am now retired which makes our time even richer. We share a love of reading, music, our home and yard, our children and grandchildren and those great-grands. Additionally, I can be found dabbling in a bit of quilting and knitting. Suffice it to say, I’m not bored!
I look forward to sharing the books I’ve read and exchanging thoughts and comments with you about them.
