My Review | The Sugar Queen
The Sugar Queen is a quick read. Also, it was a disappointment to me. All the books I’ve read by Sarah Addison Allen have included the same quality writing. Extra ingredients include magical realism, classically drawn characters, and a quirky character or two.
Allen hurried in the writing of this manuscript. The premise, story line, plot, and magical realism do not bear the quality in earlier books. In fact, The Sugar Queen comes across as an afterthought when considered in the light of Allen’s other books.

Each reader interprets and imagines differently than others, and you may enjoy this book. That is something I cannot say. But in all fairness, I always want to be honest with those who read my reviews.
